City Pension Stadtlohn

The room was okay. I booked it, and that’s about all I can say.

We won’t stay at this guesthouse again. Our booking number wasn’t recognized by the card terminal, and after I called the hotel hotline, I was told someone would come over. Nobody showed up. Later I got a call telling me to contact Booking.com. Great service :-( The whole thing felt very unprofessional. With no staff on site to help, we were left to deal with it ourselves. One star still feels too generous.

I keep coming back, so this is based on experience. A year or two ago things worked great and the fridge was always stocked. For quite a while now, nobody seems to be taking care of it, which is a real shame. The internet doesn’t work properly, and neither does the TV :(

We were told on the phone to email our details to get compensation, and we did that two weeks ago. There’s still been no reply to our email asking for something more appropriate. That silence has made an already bad impression even worse. We can’t recommend the hotel after this experience and the lack of response to what we consider a legitimate complaint. We spent one night there, but hardly slept. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and perfume, and we even found a used cigarette in the bathroom. We’d already emailed the hotel a photo of it. It’s hard to understand how the cleaning staff could have missed all that. The smell made the whole night unbearable, and the situation was simply disgusting. Over the phone we were offered a refund and asked to send our details by email. After a night that was such a disgrace and left us with no rest, we felt the compensation offered was completely inadequate, and said so in our email.
