Hotel Burg Staufenberg

The bathrooms have clearly had a substantial remodel, though I do think the beds could be better. Breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip, and the dinner and breakfast servers were skilled and attentive without hovering. The front desk staff were excellent. I think the man who helped lock my bike in a shed overnight was named Michael. Later, he told us about the castle’s history over dinner. It’s a very good hotel with a great team.

This was our second time staying at the Castle. It’s quiet and peaceful, with lots of little corners to wander around and lovely views over the town and far beyond. I can’t remember the kind lady’s name, but thank you for the candies she gave me at the end. I’m already looking forward to coming back.

Breakfast had so many choices, there should be something for everyone. We were welcomed warmly and with style, and our room had a gorgeous view over the half-timbered houses. A wonderful experience.

Dinner in the Knights Celler is a must for the atmosphere: a vaulted cellar room with suits of armor, halberds, pikes, real candles, and flowers on the table. The service was very friendly, in either German or English. Our suite was up two wide spiral staircases in this charming old castle, with a lovely countryside view and modern conveniences. Some parts date to the 13th century, others to the 15th. My husband ordered pork fillet in creamy herb sauce with mushrooms and noodle dumplings, which was amazing. I had the vegetarian asparagus ravioli with fresh buffalo mozzarella, just as delicious. We enjoyed breakfast in a cheerful dining room on the ground floor. There were scrambled eggs, Nurnberger sausages, pancakes, cold cuts, fruit, and more. We both had a really lovely stay.
