The garage was blocked by a neighbor, and the owner didn't seem to care. Parking is about 100m uphill on a gravel lot with room for two cars at most, and there was lots of snow. The apartment was dirty and run-down. The owners no longer live on-site because of health reasons. There was no breakfast or squirrel breeding, and they charged an extra €8 per night for the dog. Not the week away we’d hoped for.

The owners were kind and helpful, and the place has a small, charming feel. We spent two nights there and really enjoyed our stay. We'd happily come back. :)

After a tasty breakfast, I set off on my hike in high spirits. The night before, Elisabeth had offered to cook dinner because nothing was open in town, and it was delicious. She first welcomed me with a lovely cup of tea on the terrace. I've stayed in plenty of places while hiking, but rarely been greeted so warmly. Thank you both so much. I'd definitely recommend it :-)

Our dog was made just as welcome as we were, and the hosts were incredibly kind. There was nothing left to eat in town when we arrived, so they even treated us to a delicious dinner that evening. Breakfast was excellent too. We felt very comfortable and had a wonderful time. We'll be back!

The breakfast was fabulous, and the rooms are just right for hikers. They may even have homemade jam for you to take on your hike if you're lucky :). It's a really warmly run guesthouse, and the prices are fair. A great first stop in Limbach on the Rennsteig trail. For dinner, just ask nicely, since the local restaurant only opens on weekends. All the best to you.
