Service was quick, and the location is good. The portions were decent, with a great choice of very good food. There are some interesting dishes from abroad alongside typical local cooking, plus a big dessert selection.

The hills behind the hotel were lovely to walk up, with a great view over the countryside. It’s surrounded by greenery, and I spent two weeks here. I’d come to Steinheim for the first time, and it was also my first trip outside India. I landed in Stuttgurt, took a speed train to Heidenheim, then went just a few kilometers farther to this beautiful place. It was Saturday, and as usual the hotel was on leave, so I checked in without expecting much. From my room I could see a calm, green view. The rooms were clean, cosy and well kept. I was missing home and finding it hard to be on my own until I met Mrs. Posche. She was the best host I’ve ever met, always smiling and happy to tell me about the culture and cuisine. There are hand-picked paintings throughout the hotel and restaurent, each with a story behind it, and the tables are decorated with wild, exotic flowers. Since German food was new to me, she made sure I felt comfortable. To my surprise, for my first dinner she served me dahi, Indian pickle and papad with rice and fish curry. I love trying new cuisines, so I also sampled different German dishes and loved every bit. I even tried their unusual dessert made from blossoms, and it was amazing. India is known for friendly people and good hospitality. Finding that kind of warmth outside India was something I cherished, and I couldn’t help writing a few words about this place. It truly felt like a home away from home.

Really good place. The management is so good, and we really liked the food.
