We were parked near the hotel and had an urgent situation: our elderly grandparent is physically disabled and needed a bathroom. We weren’t hotel guests, but asked if he could use theirs, and they refused him access. If you work in hospitality, be hospitable. We’ll tell our family, friends and colleagues about what this particular hotel did so they won’t have to set foot in a place like this. We see Germans, but we’re writing in English to support anyone reading this review. That disgraceful reply makes it even worse. I’d rather sleep on the road than be looked after by people with no morals. Nobody came to you under ordinary circumstances. We asked because of an emergency, when someone couldn’t walk. That’s the whole story. We know how your establishment works. This is enough information for everyone to make their own choice.

This is a basic hotel in the Stralsund harbor area, and it’s seen better days. Reception is staffed only part-time, while the bar and breakfast room seem abandoned. You enter through the front door beside reception. The rooms are simple and small, but clean and adequate, with no coffee maker or kettle. They do honor requests for a location, though a harbor view costs an extra €20 per day. You can walk easily to the city center, and there’s a parking garage about 250 meters away. Having to leave by 10:30 feels very early. On weekends reception doesn’t open again until 10:00, so most guests probably check themselves out. For anyone who can’t take criticism and questions every single customer review, I’ll gladly revise mine and lower the rating further. The friendliness, openness to criticism and service at the Kontorhaus still feel stuck in the GDR era. A hotel needs more than what you offer, and lecturing customers on top of that doesn’t help. Better to spend a few extra euros and stay somewhere else.
