Acqua Strande Yachthotel & Restaurant

Updated 2024: still no dairy-free milk, and the vegan choice hasn’t improved. The hotel itself is good and the staff are nice, but breakfast offers no proper vegan options beyond marmalade. Some hummus, chickpeas, tofu, or vegetable spreads would be great.

We’d had a long travel day and arrived much later than planned, so on the recommendation of our local hotel we hurried over to Aqua Hotel Restaurant for a late meal. There were just two of us, and we reached the door at 9:38 pm. A young male server told us the kitchen was already closed. We’d asked a few restaurants along the strand where we could eat, and they pointed us to the Acqua. They seemed surprised we’d been turned away. The one-star rating is about the mismatch in hours: the website says dinner is served until 10:00 pm. We regretted taking time to leave our bags in the hotel room. With those 12 minutes, we might have made it to a nearby restaurant that served until 9:30 pm.

The harbor-view rooms and the Acqua Suite are both nice, and breakfast is excellent. It’s usually a very peaceful spot. Weddings and other events do sometimes bring noise in the evening.

We asked the receptionist if we could have a nicer room than our friends, who were checking in later. We were given a newly renovated one, while they got one of the older rooms. The room was lovely, the service great, and the town cozy.
