Ökopension Villa Weissig

We always enjoyed chatting with the Seiferts, who had great tips, and breakfast was a lovely surprise each morning. The guesthouse is on a quiet hillside, which could make the hike back each day a bit tough. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

We chose the guesthouse because it offered gluten-free breakfast, and it was fantastic. Everything was reliably gluten-free, with freshly prepared ingredients and homemade rolls set out each morning. The hosts were great fun to talk with. We felt very comfortable and would love to return.

Breakfast showed how much the hostess cares about quality and sustainability. We had excellent coffee, delicious fresh spreads, smoothies, crisp whole-grain rolls, organic cheese, and homemade cake. The food was beautifully prepared, and the service was friendly. The conversations were interesting and almost familial. It may not suit people who want exactly the same breakfast every day, but we enjoyed the variety and had another very successful holiday. The guesthouse sits slightly above the Elbe, a short walk from the ferry in Rathen. It’s close to the main sights of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, yet a little removed from the busy railway line and its noisy freight trains. That small difference makes it especially appealing compared with many places down in the valley. The house has been renovated beautifully with eco-friendly methods. The rooms are large and thoughtfully furnished, and there are also two apartments that I’d call luxurious. It all feels as if it was done for personal use. There’s plenty of storage and a big wardrobe with lots of hangers, which isn’t always a given elsewhere. Everything was spotless, decorated in warm colors, and we felt at ease from the first minute.

We’ve been back before, and we’ll be back again! Villa Weißig is run with so much care, and we look forward to the varied, fantastic breakfast each morning. It’s a great spot if you want real relaxation, though there’s no Wi-Fi. Instead, we spend our days petting the sheep and exploring nearby, which is easy even without a car.
