Althoff Hotel am Schlossgarten

The park next door was a lovely place to walk, and the train station nearby made it easy to get to the museums I visited. After busy days, I found the stay restful and refreshing. My room was clean, nicely decorated and suited my needs, and the staff were very helpful.

The spacious shower was the only thing I’d recommend. For the price there was no breakfast, and housekeeping came at 16.00. My train tickets were gone. The woman at the bar gave bad service, and the room cost €10 more the following night. This is meant to be a 5-star hotel, but I’d rather choose a 3- or 4-star place. I’d advise paying in cash because the exchange rate still seems to use the D-Mark rate, and they charged 17.00 Fr. more than the current rate. This was definitely my last visit.

The hotel bar was always lively, and there’s an amazing Crepe stand just outside by the subway stairs. Shops and restaurants are easy to reach on foot, and public transit is close by. I came to Stuttgart for work and stayed here after trying the intercity. What an upgrade. The location is great, and the staff were extremely friendly at both check-in and checkout. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Even though it’s right in the heart of the city, the rooms were very quiet. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms had good facilities and lovely toiletries. There was tea and coffee making equipment and air conditioning, plus easy parking beneath the Hotel. The Stuttgart Tour Bus pick-up point is right next door. Staff were very friendly, the rooms very clean, and the central location gives easy access to the main shopping street, amenities, main train station and public transport.
