A great location, with clean rooms and a tasty breakfast. There’s no air conditioning, but that’s what you’d expect in Germany.

Nice food and a good place to stay.

The hotel has the feel of a hidden gem, especially if you enjoy vintage architecture. Its 1970s character is a big part of the appeal, with a touch of hippie, peace, bell-bottoms, and flower power. Everything is good quality, carefully maintained, quiet, and spotless. It’s been family-owned for 50 years, and it seems like it could carry on for another 50 without major changes. Even single rooms have balconies, and bikes can be stored undercover and out of sight. They try to accommodate special requests when possible, like 100% spelt rolls at breakfast. Breakfast is delicious, and the big windows in the breakfast room make you feel as if you’re in part of a castle. The hotel is soon passing to the third generation, so modernization may be ahead. I hope they keep the spirit of the place and its original design. We’ll be back.

Breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, a generous choice of bread, pretzels and croissants, and eggs you could order in all sorts of ways. It was all served in a very friendly atmosphere. We got a warm welcome and could keep our bikes at the house. Our room and bathroom were just right for us, very clean and quiet, and had a balcony. We’d gladly come back.
