The first couple of days weren't great for us. It's a budget hotel, and we weren't impressed with breakfast at first. Then we found out there was a shared fridge, and you can ask for eggs, fried or scrambled. The dinner was tasty and reasonably priced, though the hotel is closed on Mondays. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was generous and fresh, especially the eggs made to order. The rooms were clean and practical, with what we needed to sleep, shower, and put our things away. Nothing fancy, but comfortable enough. We spent two nights here with five other people after a delegate conference, and Gasthaus Zum Bartl in Sulzbach-Rosenberg felt like a welcoming place to come back to. The staff were friendly and attentive without making a fuss. There's also a shared room where smoking is allowed under certain conditions. It's furnished comfortably and has a rustic feel, but the smell of cigarettes is noticeable. For a non-smoker it might just be somewhere to pass through; smokers may enjoy it. We slept well and were very satisfied with the stay. We could see ourselves coming back to Bartl, perhaps for another serving of scrambled eggs and a stop in the smoking room.
