Haus Berghoff

Breakfast worked out well even without a buffet. With only a few guests, that made sense, and we could order the night before. I was here on a business trip and had no complaints. My room was spacious, modern, and in a very quiet location. You do have to drive a bit to find a restaurant. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

The surroundings were the best part for us. The view is lovely, and there’s a horse stable right in front of the terrace, with horses to watch and nice walks nearby. Families with children might especially enjoy that. The hosts were friendly, and the cake on Sunday was a nice touch, though our impression of them was otherwise fairly neutral. The room itself didn’t feel like what we’d call a suite. The TV was only in the living room, with no streaming options like Netflix or YouTube, and there wasn’t one in the bedroom. We also missed having a small coffee or espresso machine. The bathroom wasn’t great either. The toilet looked old and had no soft close, and after showering so much water was left on the floor that we had to use a squeegee. That was impractical. Breakfast was disappointing. The selection seemed limited and partly preselected, with just a few cucumber or tomato slices, for example. We didn’t know until later that scrambled eggs could be ordered separately. They came with bacon by default, without being labeled, which is an issue for guests who don’t eat meat. Even after we ordered, we were served eggs with bacon when we hadn’t asked for it. Coffee, tea, and food also took quite a while to be replenished. Room cleaning could be handled much better. There was no “Do Not Disturb” sign or way to request a preferred cleaning time. Staff arrived just after we’d come back from breakfast while we were meant to be resting, which was particularly stressful for me during pregnancy. They really need a clear routine for this. The setting and nature are genuinely beautiful, but the hotel itself didn’t impress us. It was an average stay, and while people coming mainly for the surroundings may be happy, we wouldn’t recommend it without reservations for hotel comfort.

The rooms are furnished with care, and the staff are really friendly. Breakfast was nicely balanced. I’d happily come back.

There isn’t much to do right nearby, so we planned day trips and headed out from the hotel. That worked well for our little escape from the big city. The staff were very friendly, our room was beautiful and clean, and breakfast was delicious. We could really unwind here. It was a wonderful holiday, and we’re looking forward to coming back.
