Thüringer Waldbaude

The website is really well laid out and made booking easy. I spent four lovely nights and three great hiking days here at the beginning of September, and felt at home from the warm welcome. My little attic apartment was cozy and had everything I needed, with anything extra available in the shared kitchen. There’s also a drinks fridge with very fair prices, and I enjoyed a cold beer in the garden after hikes, with plenty of comfortable seats and cushions. A huge compliment to Katrin and Ingo for keeping this privately run guesthouse in such great shape and being such friendly hosts. Places like this are rare these days. If I’m back in the Thuringian Forest, I’ll definitely return. Keep it up! Best, Kathrin

The "Dog View" apartment is a dream if you have a dog: it has its own entrance and comes with blankets, bowls, food, poop bags, and more. There’s a fenced agility course in the garden, and you can head out on great hikes right from the doorstep. Afterward, we could unwind by the fireplace in the lounge or use the sauna in the main house. I can’t say whether there’s a more dog-friendly guesthouse in Thuringia or beyond, but this place is perfect whether you bring a dog or not. We’ll definitely be back.

The apartment was lovely and had a fenced run for the dog. We spent a wonderful week at the Waldbaude with dear friends, and the lounge with its fireplace made for cozy evenings with our hosts. It all felt incredibly homey. We’d love to return!
