Landgut & Residenz Driehof

The apartments are immaculate, modern, private and stylish, and ours was comfortable too. The Driehof has that picture postcard old German look, with beautiful fields, forest and hills around it. We sat with champagne watching birds of prey soar over the fields. The setting feels historic, while the rooms are built and designed to a really high modern standard. We'd discovered Tecklenberg by chance, and couldn't believe we'd heard so little about this magnificent medieval town, tucked into quiet wooded hills. We're originally Scottish and have lived in Germany for 18 months. For a longer return trip we looked online for dog friendly accommodation and found Driehof Residenz. Lars talked us through the area, the Residenz and its restaurants and cafes by email and phone. His perfect English was a real boost for us as German learners. We booked one of the specific dog friendly rooms. They have a set number for dogs, while other rooms don't accept them because of allergies. When we arrived, Lars and Michaela gave us such a warm welcome. They pointed us to an excellent, high quality dog friendly restaurant that also suited vegetarian tastes. Tecklenbeg is an easy, pleasant walk from the Driehof along a meadow path. That night the rain was heavy, and one of our dogs is old and a bit wobbly, so our hosts were glad to help arrange transport to and from the village. It's a magical, beautiful place with wonderful hosts. We can't rate the Driehof and them highly enough. Truly a German Shangri La. We'll be back!
