Victor's Residenz-Hotel Teistungenburg

We had a great two-night stay, and the buffet food was good both nights. The hotel was clean throughout, from our room to the restaurant and swimming area. Reception staff were friendly and quick to reply to emails. We also visited the nearby museum, spent lots of time swimming, and played table tennis, so it works well for a weekend or short break. The one downside was the badminton court. You have to pay for it, at the same rate as a professional court outside, but the setup didn't feel professional. The net wasn't straight or tight, so we decided not to pay once we saw its condition. We would still like to come back for a short wellness vacation.

The gym has plenty to do, with badminton, table tennis, squash, and workout equipment. We also liked the sauna area, which has two indoor saunas and a modern outdoor one, plus an indoor pool for swim training and a small outdoor basin area with enough loungers. The cold plunge basin was closed, though. Our room had a fresh, modern feel, and the rooms have been renovated, which is nice. Breakfast and dinner were included and served buffet-style. The food was tasty, but breakfast was the same every day; dinner had a little variety with different themes. It's a nice place to sit back and relax, despite being in the middle of nowhere. If you're interested in history, it's very close to the former German border.

The food was very good, even though dinner was buffet-only, and the Residenz sits on a hill with pleasant surroundings. We stayed for two nights. Our room was clean overall, but the walls had some damage, and the spa felt a bit outdated. Service was the bigger problem. With the hotel fully booked on Saturday, the staff seemed overwhelmed. Dinner was split into two sittings, and our room hadn't been cleaned by 6pm. The shower cabinet and sink were still dirty too, which isn't acceptable. There was no spa bag either, so we had to get towels and a bathrobe using green cards. For a 4-star hotel, there were too many service mistakes, and the hotel generally feels outdated.

The hotel is really nice, but the rooms smelled odd and weren't cleaned properly. They didn't come to clean at all on the first day. The website also says they offer organized activities like hikes, yoga lessons, and aqua classes, but those weren't provided.
