I loved how this place feels both peaceful and full of history. Hofgut Imsbach Lapointe is a lovely escape, with a quiet park and views over the lake. I learned it was once given by Napoleon Bonaparte to Colonel Lapointe. From September, it’s going to be privately managed with plans to turn it into a hotel. They’re also looking at improving the rooms and adding a sauna and gym, which should make the place even better.

The views from our room were breathtaking, even though parts of the hotel weren’t in great shape while work was going on. We may have been there in the off season, so that didn’t really spoil the stay. This is a beautiful historic palace with stables and a lovely park, in a setting that feels special. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food and drinks were always good, and locals come in too.

We only stayed one night, since the hotel was conveniently close to the A1 on our way to the UK. It’s very quiet, right in a nature park beside its own lake, and the room was good for the price. Breakfast was costly, but worth it. The restaurant was closed on Monday, and there aren’t many other places nearby in such a sparsely populated area. The reception also closes at 4pm, which gives the hotel a slightly eerie feel. I imagine the stay would be even better when the restaurant is open.

The service was especially attentive. Even with various functions taking place in the house and plenty to deal with, the staff took time to listen, were friendly and helpful, and made sure requests were handled. My room was nicely decorated, and the bathroom was clean. Thanks to the cleaning ladies for keeping everything in such good shape. The hotel is in a great historic setting, with lovely forest around it and lots to do outdoors, from walking to mountain biking and bike trekking. I had a very pleasant stay.
