Hotel Waldblick

The view over the Thuringian Forest makes it easy to slow down here, and there are plenty of hiking and cycling routes plus historic towns to visit nearby. What makes this place feel like a second home, though, is how kind and welcoming the owners are. The owner cooks everything fresh with high-quality local ingredients, and the hotel is beautiful and family-run. People this genuinely lovely seem harder to find these days. We’ll definitely return.

Saying goodbye to Heike and Frank was hard. Our group of six spent four nights at Hotel Waldblick while hiking the Green Belt, and the hosts took such good care of us that our stay in Treffurt became unforgettable. The spacious rooms had comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent, and they always tried to meet our requests. It’s a lovely hotel, furnished with real care, and we’ll remember it for a long time. Thanks for those wonderful days. We hope to see you again soon. The hiking group from Saxony.

The evenings with Heike and Frank were a real highlight, with tasty suppers, long chats, and stories that were sometimes funny and sometimes serious. Our old study group meets each year for a hike somewhere in a beautiful part of Germany, and we’ve always been welcomed warmly. This visit felt especially lovely.
