Gästehaus Zur Lilie

We were tired Canadians on a road trip, and the staff and management made us and the kids feel so welcome. My German is limited, but they treated us like we belonged there. The food was delicious, arrived surprisingly quickly, and was better quality than we expected. Thanks for such a great dining experience!

The Black Forest Cake was light and fresh, with plump, juicy cherries as the highlight. Lunch portions were generous too, and the chicken salad with mashed potatoes was Wunderbar! The chalet-style atmosphere feels classic, and it's handy for Triberg Falls, shopping, and the parking garage.

The Schwarzwald cake was excellent and well worth trying. Paying by card, though, turned into a four-week ordeal. I got inconsistent explanations while trying to sort out the payment, which had been transferred because of a supposed “technical glitch.” In the end, I had to arrange the refund myself. I can't say whether it was accidental or intentional, but it didn't feel entirely unintentional.

We ended up eating here three times in our six nights in Triberg, and it was easily our favorite restaurant. The traditional German food was tasty, high quality, and nicely presented. Service was always quick, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The warm atmosphere and beautiful interior felt typical of the region. We also liked the beer selection, especially the local brewery beers you don't usually find elsewhere. They take credit cards too, which isn't always the case in Triberg. Great food and service for the price, highly recommended!
