Nells Park Hotel

I booked this for work, not tourism. The accommodation was nice, and the staff were kind. Dinner at the hotel restaurant tasted good despite the limited meal selection. Breakfast was different from what I expected, with a smaller product choice. The wellness area met expectations: very nice, clean and quiet. The one disappointment was that the receptionist in the wellness area doesn’t speak English.

It’s a beautiful boutique hotel, probably the nicest in the area. Unfortunately, we stayed there and held an event there, and everything turned into a problem, even getting our truck into the parking lot well ahead of time. We won’t book again. UPDATE: The hotel responded below, and that response is exactly what I mean. Everything is our fault. For example, we arranged the truck’s early arrival in writing and followed up by phone. We also booked rooms for the drivers. Yet the hotel suggests the truck bringing the event equipment was due a day after the event. Worse, they say they provided a solution, but that meant sending the drivers away to park in a public lot about 15 minutes away. I’ve lowered my rating to one star. For the event, I’d give zero if I could. This hotel needs to learn its lesson. I wouldn’t just avoid recommending it, I’d strongly advise against holding an event here.

The friendly staff were excellent. My room was well equipped and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. We used the LOFT for an all-day business meeting, which worked perfectly. Lunch in the restaurant was very good, as was breakfast. The location was good too, since we explored the city in the evening.

The room was filthy and poorly maintained: the shutters were broken, the curtains torn, there was mold in the shower and hair by the bed. Worst of all, our baby's mattress and one towel were stained with blood. We couldn't heat water in the room for a baby bottle, so we had to go downstairs each time. There was no fridge or kettle either. We checked into room 220 last night, a family room for four, and were horrified by the lack of hygiene. We took pictures. We definitely won't be back.
