Schroeders Stadtwaldhotel

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, with a modern bathroom, and although breakfast was simple, dinner at the hotel was much better than you'd expect. Patrick, the man at the bar, was very friendly and good company, and Alex was a very nice host. It's within walking distance of the city center if you're up for a good uphill walk. We'd come back to Trier and stay here again.

We'd stay here again when passing through. Breakfast had loads of choice and was excellent, and the room was large and comfortable with good quality toiletries in the washroom. The bar and restaurant are pleasant, with a lovely garden seating area, and there's a room to store bicycles. Alex handled check-in smoothly, speaking good English while my German is limited. We walked into town and back up the hill, about 25 minutes each way, and it wasn't too onerous. The only downsides for us were no kettle or fan in the room.

The surrounding hills and forest made this a perfect spot for a vacation. The room was excellent, breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful. My only issue was getting around. The bus routes are shown at the stops, but there aren't any buses, which I wouldn't blame on the hotel, but on the city of Trier. Overall, an excellent hotel.

The restaurant food is good, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's a good, reasonably priced hotel for a stay in Trier. The walk down into town is easy enough, but coming back up is quite a hike. Taxis are always an option.
