Hotel am See

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the person in charge gave remarkably good service. The rest of our three-night stay was mostly disappointing. We had booked by phone and asked for a lake-view room, which was granted. When we arrived, the room was cold. The receptionist said it was her first day; she was friendly but couldn't fix it, so she called the caretaker. He was friendly too, checked the heater, and confirmed there was a problem, but couldn't change anything. The boss wasn't there, so he suggested calling him. I asked to change rooms. The boss said the heaters were the same in every room, and I had to convince him there was a specific problem with ours. After discussions between him and the caretaker, I suggested we look at another room. That finally worked, since it was heated and warm. Several things in the room were faulty or lacking: the wardrobe's sliding door barely moved, the drain was defective, room service was incomplete, the bedside lamp didn't work, there was broken glass behind the mixing set, the shelves were dusty, and the safe didn't work, probably because its battery was empty. On our departure morning there was only cold water. We complained about several defects, but nothing was fixed during our stay, including the Wi-Fi. Other guests also confirmed trouble with Wi-Fi and other defects.

It's peaceful and relaxing, and the breakfast is really good with lovely lake views. The sauna is amazing, with a window overlooking the lake, though the docks are private.

The setting is beautiful and the breakfast spread is good, but I wasn't keen on the rooms. The bathroom smelled because water was leaking in the toilet.

Right in front of the lake, so the location is very good. Service was fine, and the restaurant was really nice. On our south Bavaria road trip, we had few breakfasts better than this one.
