Hotel Garni Villa Rosengarten

Breakfast was excellent, with cooked egg dishes as well as the usual spread of cold meats, cheese, breads, and pastries. There was also a sitting room with a small selection of drinks, which came in handy on our first night. A big storm had come through, and we wanted to return from our meal but weren't ready for bed yet 🍷🍺 We stayed here for two nights during our walking tour of Germany. The hosts were wonderful, and our room in the new extension at the back was lovely, with shutters and doors opening onto a balcony. You enter through the old house and go up a circular stone staircase, but there is a lift, so luggage was no trouble. The hotel overlooks the rose garden, which is where its name comes from.

The courtyard is a lovely spot for tea, cake, or aperitifs, and the breakfast was delicious. The owners and staff made us feel very welcome, and our room was lovely during our three nights cycling and taking ferries around the lake. It's also well placed for a walk to Sipplingen, or into town along the foreshore, through the gardens, or both. A really lovely property in a great spot, highly recommended.

I usually choose five-star hotels and can be quite particular, but since this seemed like the nicest place in Uberlingen, I decided to try Hotel Villa Rosengarten. I felt at ease in the beautifully decorated, meticulous hotel. The service was warm and friendly, and the staff spoke very good English. They helped me find phone repairs, gyms, and transportation. Mornings were a treat, with delicious coffee, a breakfast buffet, and soft music at just the right volume. The whole stay felt like a dream. I look forward to coming back again and again.
