The rooms were clean, but the free WiFi was poor and kept dropping and reconnecting. Staff were friendly, though slow and incompetent when we encountered them. The hotel presents itself as sustainable, yet breakfast yogurt came in disposable plastic cups. It's far out of town beside a fairly busy crossroads. Sadly, places to stay in Uelzen are either worse or often fully booked.

A pretty nice biological hotel, though you can hear too much through the walls.

Breakfast was good, and the staff were very friendly. The house is easy to find, with courtyard parking right beside it, and the town center is an easy walk away. My attic room was very large but quite cold. It had two firm single beds, with regular or grain-filled pillows to choose from. The duvet smelled unpleasant. The light-colored carpet made the room look a bit dingy, and I wonder if something easier to care for, like laminate, would work better. The bathroom was very spacious. The room faced the main road, so there was some noise, though it was tolerable. Trucks also made the house shake. For one night it was okay, but I didn't think the room price was really justified, especially after comparing it with a first-floor room.

The room was functional, and breakfast was perfectly satisfactory. What really helped was being able to book spontaneously on New Year's Eve. Many thanks to the friendly staff member on the phone who sorted out our little emergency so quickly and easily. If either of us is in the area again, we'd definitely stay at the Hotel Johnsburg.
