Hotel Goldenes Rad

The street gets noisy in the evenings, with loud sports cars going up and down. Inside, my room didn’t have basics like a kettle for tea or coffee. I was also disappointed that the sauna, advertised everywhere, wasn’t operating that day, and nobody offered compensation. My arrival on Sunday was a problem too: the hotel was completely locked and there were no staff around or signs explaining how to get in. Nobody had told me beforehand. I had to find a phone number myself to get access to my room key. I’d look for another hotel.

From our windows we could see Ulm's iconic cathedral, and the location made it easy to feel part of the lively local atmosphere. With the windows closed, though, it was peaceful. The interior is simple, and the front desk staff always greeted us with warm smiles. I forgot to thank the ever-smiling male front desk staff member who remembered my online purchase of a toothbrush. He made our trip feel warmer and more enriching. We had a wonderful stay, and the breakfast is a must try, abundant and delicious.

Our room was spacious and well equipped, and the sound insulation was pretty good overall, though depending on the room you may hear some noise. The hotel looks great and is new, right by the center, which can be lively at times. The breakfast buffet was very good and ran quite late, until 11:00.

The rooms were perfect, apart from a strange, damaged tap in the shower. Breakfast was pretty poor, though fine for one time. The location is absolutely excellent. I liked the stay and can recommend it.
