The ferry pier is just a five-minute walk away, with boats to places including Mainau. Breakfast had a solid range of choices, and the restaurant attached to the hotel served good food too. My only issue was the room internet: it cut in and out, and when it worked, it was too slow for Skype calls or YouTube. Great spot overall.

The restaurant was a real letdown. The spätzle were cold and bland, the Schweinsbraten overcooked, and the Maultaschen dry. Even the nuggets went down badly. The rooms themselves are fine, though expensive for what you get. They also charge €6 to keep your bikes overnight. I'd eat somewhere else if staying here.

The hotel is near the lake and boat station, and it's a handy base for the museums and Messe in Fridrichshafen. It costs less than staying in Fridrichshafen. We had comfortable rooms and liked the food, plus there's a large bar and restaurant. Nice place :)

Our attic suite was more like a spacious flat and could easily fit four people. There was also a terrace with a lovely view across Lake Constance. Hotel Knaus is an older hotel, right by the sports harbour.
