Villa Silva

The garden is lovely and spacious, and it was beautifully set up for the outdoor ceremony. We were guests at a very nice wedding, and the celebration itself was lovely. Still, the service was far below what you'd expect at a wedding in a venue like this, especially at its price level. At coffee time there was a buffet with cups and coffee pots, but for any other drink you had to catch a staff member or go to the bar. At dinner, wine and water were served, and other drinks could be requested, but after that staff only checked on drinks occasionally, if we could see anyone at all. When we asked, we were told everyone was in the kitchen and that we should knock on the door. After we asked several more times for service, things improved a little, but it was still nowhere near what we'd expected. Several guests also quickly noticed the manager's abrupt, over-the-top manner. The celebration was nice, but neither the boss nor the team made us feel welcome. The only exception was a shorter woman in service with short, light-colored hair. She had a very kind smile and clearly knew her job. We hadn't booked a room because the price had already shocked us beforehand and put us off staying. In the end, at night and again the next morning, only the remaining guests were in the building. The wedding couple were expected to gather their things and just pull the doors shut behind them. So, a beautiful garden with lovely possibilities, but we have no reason to book this venue for a celebration.

The spacious, well-kept park was a lovely place to relax, and even with several other guests around, we could celebrate without being disturbed. We spent a wonderful family week here two weeks ago. The accommodations were clean and had their own charm. Requests were handled quickly and courteously, and there was plenty of delicious food. We'd happily come back anytime.

It's a quiet spot and a good base for hikes around the area. We were there with a seminar group, and we were the only ones. The food was okay but could have had more variety, and there was nothing available for the participants who came the evening before. It feels like a sleepy place waiting to wake up.

The staff were incredibly friendly and capable, and the wedding celebration was lovely. The venue sits in a romantic park just outside Uslar, somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It was surprising that all catering had to be arranged through an outside provider for a "conference hotel." The buildings and rooms are unfortunately a bit dated, to put it politely, and the price is clearly excessive. The rather uninspired breakfast buffet feels outdated too, and is equally overpriced.
