Schlikkerhuus

We booked at the last minute, just the day before, for a birthday breakfast during our weekend in Varel. Everything was freshly made with a lot of care. The café is cozy and nicely decorated, and the owner is so friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a good breakfast, with homemade spreads served alongside the rolls. It's a nice café, and the terrace is surprisingly big. The plates were set down in front of us without anyone saying a word, which was unfortunate, but otherwise things were fine. From the other reviews, it sounds like that may have been a one-off.

The café has a lovely nostalgic look, and the coffee tastes great. The cakes look fresh, and the menu has plenty of different dishes to choose from. I'll be back for sure! 😍😘

The cakes and drinks were very good, with nothing to complain about there. But we came with our four children, aged 6, 5, almost 2, and a baby, and the staff seemed annoyed as soon as they saw them. It stayed that way throughout our visit. The kids were playing with the toys in the small play area, but they weren't being especially loud. We couldn't help wondering why there's a play area if children aren't welcome. If a place provides one, families should be greeted and served in a friendly way.
