Hotel Wiener Botschaft

The room matched the pictures and what we expected. The extra plates and cups in the shared area came in handy, but the sofa bed was broken. We’d requested a baby bed, as in a review from 11 months earlier, and it wasn’t provided. With no reply to my messages, we had to find it ourselves. Parking was confusing and frustrating: other cars were often parked so they blocked people from leaving, the street parking information didn’t say where to park, the nearest spaces were marked private, and the ground-floor business also used the courtyard. There was no customer service outside business hours. I tried email, the after-hours phone number, and text, without a response. The company did eventually reply to my email and customer portal message, but only after I’d checked out, and they addressed my issues.

The location was convenient, just a few minutes' drive from the center, and parking was free. The room was clean, with a modern bathroom and a coffee and tea maker. Still, the two-floor layout wasn’t practical with a baby; we’d have preferred one floor. We had asked for a crib in advance, but it wasn’t in the room, so we had to find it ourselves in one of the halls. Check-in was online, with no staff at the hotel, and communication was only by phone. Check-in began at 4 PM, an hour later than at most hotels. We didn’t see any other guests. It had a vintage feel, but the setup seemed more like an Airbnb.

The room was huge, but old, and there was no air-conditioning. The wooden floor was so noisy that walking on it could wake the whole family. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs. We hadn’t realized there would be no staff on site and everything would be self-service. At first we couldn’t find our room, and our message to staff through the App went unanswered because it was after 3pm. That was also the check-in time, which didn’t make sense to us. It felt like an Airbnb-style operation. We stayed for two nights.

We were just stopping over, and this worked perfectly. Our spacious room had everything we needed, and the place was clean and practical. There’s no elevator, but we got codes for the building and our room, and parking was free. It was a nice walk to the charming village center, castle, and gardens.
