Hotel Zum Deutschen Eck

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms were great and very clean, all for a fantastic price. We’d love to come back.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and the heating, which was broken when I arrived, was fixed the next day. They provided a space heater until then, so I’ve given three stars for that. Still, it’s far too expensive for what you get. The old, worn rooms have thin walls and an outdated bathroom. Breakfast at €12 was a joke: two slices of beer ham or salami, plus a dry bread roll. The price for the quality is completely unacceptable.

There was mold on the walls and in the shower corners in one room, and the other shower was completely covered in mold. The rooms felt cold because the heating apparently wasn’t on before we arrived. It took hours to get even a little warm, and the carpeted floors and bathroom tiles were freezing. We were shivering in bed. Both beds were worn out; I woke at 2 a.m. with back pain and couldn’t get back to sleep. We had booked two rooms, and the whole place felt like the late 70s, with only so-so cleanliness. Reception was unattended even though we’d announced our arrival time. The hotel was empty except for us, and the restaurant was closed for a holiday, as were places elsewhere. One star only because you can’t publish zero. A complete disaster. Avoid this place.

There was no breakfast, and reception could only be reached by phone. The hotel housed unaccompanied male youths, and the noise was very high, so I left. I booked one night in March 2024. From outside, the place looked abandoned. When I arrived, reception was unattended, but after a call the key was ready. On the way up to the second floor, I passed bags of laundry, piles of clean clothes, worn furniture, and sofas with brown-gray upholstery. The whole place felt deserted and creepy. My room looked clean, but it was cold and noisy.
