The spa was a lovely extra, with a big sauna, indoor and outdoor places to relax, foot baths, spacious showers, and plenty of towels. The gym had a decent selection too, from free weights up to 18 kg dumbbells to several modern machines, a treadmill, stepper, and elliptical. Our room was a good size and had a modern bathroom, plus free tea and coffee making facilities. We stayed for two nights as a couple in early February 2026. There was no fridge or complimentary water on arrival, which is why I gave it four stars. Parking was plentiful at just over €6 a day. Staff were very polite and spoke excellent English, and the hotel was close enough to the city centre, Lidl, and several places to eat.

We really enjoyed the stay, and the location worked well for our plans to explore the area. We came for a few days around New Year’s Eve with our 3 year old and had a King Suite, which was amazingly spacious. The rooms were also very well soundproofed. Everyone was friendly and helpful, including Mario at front office, Kristijan serving dinner, and the ladies at breakfast. My one real gripe was the TV system. The TVs were modern, but the setup felt dated, and I’m used to streaming YouTube and Netflix in hotel rooms.

The breakfast charge at checkout was a real problem. Our group schedule said breakfast was included every day, but we only learned on arrival that it would cost an extra €19 per person per day. After one day, other group members said breakfast was being served on the ground floor and that everyone seemed able to go in, so we ate there too. We had breakfast at the hotel for five days, but were charged for six. There was no notice or reception desk by the breakfast area, so we don’t understand how this happened. Getting around was difficult as well. The hotel sits on a hill between two towns, and there’s only one bus an hour to the hospital near the hotel, with no hotel shuttle to town.

The guy working at the lobby bar was so kind and dedicated that I was really impressed. I never usually write reviews, but he made that much of an impression. Everything was clean, and everyone was nice. A great hotel choice in Villingen-Schwenningen.

After a nine hour drive, we were hoping to unwind, so we booked the spa and sauna and paid a lot for them, with no refund option. The spa wasn’t working, and reception didn’t help when we asked them to fix it and switch it on. It still didn’t work. We felt really bad about the whole thing.
