We won’t be coming back. The rooms were tiny, the atmosphere felt dated, and the double bed slid away from the wall when we leaned against the headboard. The sink was clogged and drained extremely slowly, with gurgling noises through the night. In the bathroom, the flickering lights made shaving risky and putting in contact lenses almost impossible, and the shower cubicle was tiny. The WiFi was unencrypted and weak. Our room wasn’t cleaned, only fresh towels were left. Breakfast was poor, with little choice, push-button coffee, and rolls that seemed reheated rather than fresh. It’s at least a 30-minute walk to the city center. This feels more like a basic business hotel than a tourist hotel, with no frills. For the prices around here, you can find much better elsewhere.

We had a great stay, with spacious rooms, a super-comfortable bed, and a powerful shower. There’s good off-road parking and WiFi, plus a nice balcony in the rooms. Great value for money, and the lovely town of Villengen Schwenningen is nearby too.

The staff were kind, which is the only reason I’m giving this two stars. The room was dirty and too small, and the bath booth was cramped and inconvenient for showering. Nothing was convenient, and I don’t want to come back to this hotel.

I never stayed here because the first contact was so awful. The person on the phone seemed very keen to explain what they didn’t have or offer, and gave me the impression they had no real interest in guests.

The hotel is near the forest, though Villingen downtown is a bit far, so I’d suggest coming by car. Reception is open only from around 7 AM to around 7 PM, with a key lockbox used the rest of the time. The hotel is decent, and the staff were helpful and kind.
