Gasthaus Schadde

I'm still shocked at how little basic courtesy there was. The place is uncomfortable and old-fashioned, and the people were unfriendly. After the hotel replied that it couldn't identify us as guests, I can only guess they don't talk to guests and just hold out the card reader without thinking. 🫠

Mrs. Schadde was warm, chatty, and very empathetic. We enjoyed both dinners, and the house beer was great, easy to drink with a generous head. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful when served at the table, though we had to ask for more coffee and there was no yogurt or fruit. Our rooms were fine and comfortably furnished. The single room had no closet, while the double had one and a bathroom window. For that price, though, both should have had showers. We'd book with the Schadde family again.

Wir booked the guesthouse online, but our first meeting with Frau Schadde didn't feel warm. Before handing over the room key, she told us the room had already been paid for and gave us the bill. At breakfast the next morning, we were assigned a table. I asked if we could sit in the conservatory, but was told it was too hot and the butter would melt. Breakfast was very simple: a small plate of cold cuts and cheese, a hard-boiled egg, and jam. Frau Schadde poured the coffee, but we had to ask for a second cup, and by the time I asked for a third, the pot was empty. I asked for yogurt and was told it would be available the next morning, as they alternate it with an egg. In my opinion, the room price with breakfast wasn't justified and was far too high. We won't recommend the guesthouse.

Dogs are warmly welcomed, and the landlady is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and functionally furnished. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the cozy dining room has a menu that leaves nothing to be desired.
