Country house in Vollerwiek

The kitchen, bathroom and beds were clean enough, but the corners and window areas had lots of cobwebs and insect remains. The stairwell looks as if it hasn't been cared for in months, with dead insects gathered in the corners. There were mosquito bodies on the walls, some still stuck on. The windows had no screens, and fortunately the weather was mild enough that we could keep them shut in the evenings. The house itself is basically nice, but I can't recommend it as it's run now. There don't seem to be any investments, and the cleaning staff appear to have a very limited task. The furniture is very basic and from the 90s. The beds creak, the mattresses are old, and the drawer knobs fall off. The positive reviews are all from quite a while ago.

The animals were the highlight for my children. There were goats, rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs and ducks, and they could feed them all. We were delighted with our stay. The village is tiny and very quiet, with the nearest shop about a five-minute drive away. It took us around 15 minutes to reach the water with the kids, and we collected quite a few seashells at the beach. The apartment had everything we needed, even a fireplace with firewood. The owners are incredibly friendly. Thanks for such lovely days, even with the chilly autumn weather by the sea. We'll definitely come back :)

The children's vehicles advertised were dusty and their tires were nearly flat. The terrace grill only appeared after we asked, and when we wanted to sit outside between 6 and 8 pm, the young man looking after the garden started mowing the lawn, so we had to go back indoors. There was a lot that needed attention despite the great website photos. We had to wash food scraps off the cutlery, and the drawers were stained with coffee and had rice in them. The vegetable peeler was completely rusty. A screw stuck out of the bunk bed in the children's room, and we had to treat one of our children's backs because of it. The children's duvets were torn at the seams, and the bedspreads provided had chocolate stains. The shower drain had black residue because the grout hadn't been sealed properly. The garden furniture was covered in dust and bird droppings, and there were spores on the beach chair's seat and canopy. These issues should have been sorted before our holiday, or the cleaning staff should have paid more attention. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this accommodation.

The owners are really friendly, and the children have lots of fun with the animals, like feeding the goats. The apartment is cozy, neat and clean, with a rustic style.
