The staff were kind and sorted out a small issue with us very graciously. We arrived during the restaurant's dinner rush, and there isn't a separate reception, which fits the place's more inn-like feel. Our ordered crib was already in the room, our baby slept well, and they let us order food late. It was delicious, and we could eat in the lounge near room no. 8. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. We stayed one night with two adults and a baby on the way to Switzerland. It's a charming old home with hotel rooms upstairs, I assume. Some rooms don't have private bathrooms, but that was made clear beforehand. Ours had a shower and sink only, and that was fine since the facilities and towels were clean. Some furnishings are dated, but the place felt cozy, like staying in a friend's or family's home. The retro tiles even felt familiar to us. As long as the bathroom works, that's what matters. Independent hotels in Western Europe where you can stay for under 100 euros and get this kind of value are few and far between.

The restaurant food was excellent, the service was very good, and everyone we met on staff was friendly. They tend to eat early and close early, so keep that in mind. Our large room was comfortable, and everything was spotless, including the shared WC on the landing. Our dog could stay for an extra 7 euros. We stopped here on our way to the Netherlands and had booked a room with an en suite bathroom. Because of an error by Booking.com, we got a room with an en suite shower but had to share the WC on the landing with other rooms. The proprietor showed us the booking on his computer, which clearly showed the issue was with Booking.com, and offered us tea and a beer to smooth things over. I'd recommend booking directly with the hotel. Booking.com never replied to my complaint.

The toilets and shower are shared on the floor rather than in the room, just so you know. Apart from that, this was exactly what I wanted: a small, welcoming guest house with fair prices and plenty of parking.

The food was incredible at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there was a great choice of beers. The owners were amazing and the service was excellent. Such a wonderful place to stay and visit, I couldn't have asked for better.

We had a problem because the room was too small for our family, but the owner Ulrike helped us find another one and switched our rooms. She and the staff were the nicest people we've met in German hospitality. The food was the best we'd had in a long time, and everything was outstanding. Thank you so much for everything.
