We came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and the booking was under his name. He wrote his birthday on the check-in form, but nobody wished him a happy birthday during our stay. At breakfast, no staff said good morning. For our first dinner, nobody greeted us or showed us to a table. After we sat down with our food, a waiter said it wasn't our table. When we asked if we could have a cocktail, she said no and told us to get it from the bar. The following evening, another waiter had no problem bringing us drinks from the bar. On checkout day, room service came in without knocking. We were really annoyed. Everyone should knock before entering, whatever the time. When we asked her to wait, she most likely didn't understand. I'm not sure what her German level was. She went back and reported that we'd said we weren't checking out that day. I can see management is trying to offer high-end features, but the execution was terrible for what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel. The staff aren't trained at all. Management should hire someone with experience in high-end hotels and train the staff better, especially if they're aiming for high-end prices.

The hotel had a lovely, warm family feeling, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We had a great experience overall. We didn't give it five stars because there's room to improve: free water on the tables when you have full or half board, more vegetarian options, extra towels in the room, and extra cushions.

The meals were good, and the restaurant service was too. The hotel sits among woods and nature near the small town of Salzstetten. My room was large but dated and badly in need of renovation, with a small bathroom and a hard bed. There are indoor and outdoor pools, though the indoor one smelled strongly of chlorine, and only the jacuzzi had water massage jets. The old sauna area felt cramped, and you have to be unclothed to use it. It has a very German feel and no international flavor. Nothing special for me, so I won't return.

We were pleasantly surprised. It isn't the most modern hotel, but everything was clean, which matters a lot to us. The food was great, though the service could use some improvement.
