We had a really large, private room, set apart from the rest of the house, and the balcony was a lovely spot to watch the sunset over dinner. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and separate, and WiFi worked perfectly. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and there was free parking right in front of the pension. A supermarket is just outside town, about a 10-minute walk away. We were on a road trip through Germany, and the little town itself is beautiful and worth a walk.

No hotels or guesthouses in Waldesch meant we booked by phone and arranged our stay for our first stop on the Way of St. James. But nobody showed up when we were meant to meet, no one could be reached, and we got neither a callback nor an apology. That was especially unpleasant after hiking 20 km over the Hunsrück hills on a Sunday afternoon. I'd give it -5 stars if I could.

The whirlpool tub was the standout, and public parking was right outside the house. It was a guest room in a house, and breakfast was no longer available as an add-on. Given the price and the distance to Koblenz, it was okay.
