Hotel-Restaurant Kohlenbacher-Hof

Really peaceful spot in the mountains, with cows out in the field and a lovely atmosphere. Great food and service, too.

We felt completely at ease spending the Christmas holidays at this country hotel. It's clean, well kept, and has a nice atmosphere. The restaurant staff were always friendly and attentive, and the food was very good every time. The location is ideal for relaxed walks and bike rides. A very successful stay, and highly recommended.

We've been twice, once with about 25 people for my mother's 85th birthday and again a few days later, just the three of us. Both visits were wonderful. The country hotel is tucked into a lovely Black Forest valley among farms and meadows. It's easy to reach, just take the first left at the roundabout in Kollnau. The food was excellent, the service attentive and very friendly, and the atmosphere pleasant. On our second visit, all three of us loved our meals from the menu. The price was comparatively lower than at similar restaurants in Freiburg. We sat by the fireplace, which was especially welcome for the one of us who usually feels cold, with the tiles at our backs. We'd love to return and highly recommend this country inn.

We stayed at the Kohlenbacher Hof from August 18th to 20th, 2025, and had an excellent visit. Our half-board booking included a very good breakfast buffet. The four-course dinner came with choices, and every course was cooked and prepared superbly. We were very satisfied with the food, and the price was great. Service at reception and during meals was attentive and very friendly. The hotel is beautifully and tastefully furnished, in a lovely, quiet, idyllic location. There is plenty of free parking right in front.
