Storchenturm

It's late, so we're staying just one night, then we'll find somewhere else tomorrow. The place is very dirty and smells bad, and even the hand towels stink.

The staff were friendly, and the food was good.

I often travel 2.5 hours by train (!) from where I live now to spend time in my old hometown of Tiengen, and Hotel Storchenturm is where I stay. I also eat at the Deli Inn. I'm just a satisfied guest, with no connection to either business. I've stayed in four of the hotel's rooms over time, and all have been quite clean. They're individually and lovingly furnished. The storage space is enough if you don't have big demands. The rooms are small, but perfectly usable for me. The hotel seems to be a listed building and forms part of the medieval city fortifications. Its layout means you use a spiral staircase, so it helps if your legs aren't only good for speeding. Being right on a pedestrian zone keeps traffic noise down. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. I also haven't seen the street prostitution mentioned in another review, either by the hotel or elsewhere in town. People doing that work probably wouldn't make much of a living in Tiengen. For me, Hotel Storchenturm is the cutest hotel I've tried here.

The rooms are cozy and small, and the staff are attentive. The hotel itself is still up to standard, but when I came back after a year, I felt the restaurant had slipped. The food was affected, and the service especially.
