Gästehaus Zehmerhof

We booked at the last minute and got in late, but the staff made check-in easy. The family room was spacious, tidy and clean. Breakfast was great, and the service was really polite and friendly.

Our key was left at reception, so booking during the day and arriving late at night worked out easily. The staff were very friendly, and the included breakfast was delicious. There were 18 kinds of homemade marmalade, too. The rooms were clean, though I did miss having air-conditioning.

The staff were very helpful, even driving us to the nearby train station, which was less than 1 km away but a long way to manage with our luggage. Breakfast was lovely, and the accommodations were comfortable. We had a top-floor room with a skylight, though the elevator stopped one floor below, so we had to carry our luggage and stroller up the last flight. The countryside setting was beautiful, but the hotel was farther from the airport than we’d expected.

I loved the hotel, and the owners were so kind and understanding after our ridiculous late-night mishap. I was there on a class tour with my American friends, and one of them, who shall not be named, put the electric tea pot with its plastic bottom on the stove. It nearly caught fire, filled the room with smoke, set off the alarms, and got the whole hotel evacuated at midnight. I was so relieved they didn’t kick us out. A five-star stay, just remember they use electric tea pots. We had no idea and interrupted everyone’s night.
