Hotel Sanssouci

A really good hotel.

I stayed here often while working away from home. It’s in a quiet location, the rooms are clean, and breakfast was fine. The owner was often very nice and accommodating, though I did sometimes see a different side of her. The range of one to five star reviews here makes me chuckle, but I’d book again.

We spent two nights there last year, and the setting was lovely. It seemed like there were only two other guests, though. The manager was unfriendly, and the rooms felt uncomfortable and smelled musty. Since nobody had been at the hotel beforehand, we couldn’t check in until 3 p.m. or leave our suitcases and return later. The sauna was broken, and so was the advertised coffee machine for takeaway coffee. Breakfast wasn’t all fresh either. There were fruit flies on the fruit, and some pieces were moldy. We definitely wouldn’t stay there again or recommend it.

We only stayed for a day, so didn’t see much of the area, but what we did see was green and peaceful. The location is good, and both the room and bathroom were clean. The staff were friendly too. The bird park and Serengeti safari park in Walsdorf are nearby by car, but check their opening times first.
