The little inn felt like the kind of quaint place I’d hoped to experience while visiting Germany from the States. The rooms are old and the floors creak, but the comforters and bedding were crisp. We skipped breakfast, and the grocery store right across the street had what we needed for road snacks.

We booked a double bed but were given twin beds and told we could push them together. The rooms are small and dark, and everything feels very dated, more like a youth hostel. It’s tolerable for a stopover, but for a longer stay the value for money is too poor. As for Klosterfelde, there isn’t much happening there. That’s not the guesthouse’s fault, but it’s worth knowing. At 8 p.m. on Friday, the kebab shop 15 minutes away was barely open and had already run out of food.
