Top notch!

We were really disappointed. We had booked a double room with breakfast and parking for the weekend, from Friday to Monday. Check-in with the key safe was straightforward, and the room was nicely furnished. The bathroom was dated, which would have been fine if it had been clean. It was dirty. Dirt from the neighboring roof must have blown in through the open window over several days, but someone should have noticed when checking the room. Cobwebs hung inside the windows, and it looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The towels were dirty too. There was no room service or cleaning during our stay, so we didn't get fresh ones. By Sunday evening, we'd also run out of toilet paper, with no spare roll anywhere. The advertised Nespresso machine was set on a table without a nearby outlet, so we had to rearrange everything just to make coffee. There was only one cup for two adults and two capsules for the whole weekend. A host checking the room would have caught that. The explanation that they skip cleaning for environmental reasons felt more like a way to maximize profit when the room cost €140 per night. There was no breakfast on our departure day because the staff had the day off and we were the only guests who'd ordered it. The town bakeries don't open until 8:00, so we left for the highway without eating. We also had to pay the tourist tax and breakfast in cash without getting a receipt, which I'd never experienced before. For such a high room rate, this was a very disappointing stay.

From outside, the hotel looks unassuming, but it's been tastefully restored. The old half-timbered building has spacious, comfortable rooms for its standard. It's central in the heart of the old town, yet quiet. The courtyard parking is a downside for me because the entrance is very narrow. We can't comment on breakfast yet.

We were comfortable in our clean, nicely decorated room, and the bed was very comfortable too. The staff were friendly, and the hotel's city location was great and pleasantly quiet. We stayed two days and felt at home, so we'll definitely return. A few things could be better. We couldn't park at the hotel and left the car about 800 meters away to avoid a fee, though there was a covered spot for bicycles. Breakfast was split into two shifts and felt crowded and noisy. We worried there wouldn't be enough food for everyone, and the bread rolls were dry and hard.
