Spessart Lodge

The lodge rooms were beautiful and the beds very comfortable. We spent four nights here with our two dogs, and everything was fantastic, from the service and staff to the atmosphere, breakfast, and dinner.

The main building’s restaurant was extremely good, and we were very happy with dinner on both evenings. Breakfast there was perfectly fine, nothing special but nothing bad either. We stayed for a long weekend in this superb new hotel. Our lodge room was beautifully designed and finished, with lovely wooden details. But the sound insulation is unacceptable for such a recently built hotel. We could hear normal conversations and snoring from the next room. The hotel is very close to the A3 and gets many travelers heading to and from the south. During the Dutch “spring break,” it seemed to be 95% Dutch, and everyone wanted to leave early the next morning, with all the early activity that comes with that.

We paid a bit more than we usually would, but it was worth it. The rooms were very nice and breakfast was good, and the hotel is by the highway in a beautiful wooded area. It’s a shame we arrived late and couldn’t explore the surroundings. I also missed having a coffee maker in the room.

The food was excellent, and you could taste the owner’s butcher background in the delicious breakfast. It’s a wonderful hotel, with original, luxurious rooms and a family-run feel. The staff were very attentive.
