a&o Weimar - Hostel

The Wi-Fi didn’t work properly, and the staff were mostly rude and unprofessional. They couldn’t manage their assigned tasks. One man was handling the whole reception while two other staff members didn’t or couldn’t take care of anything. Around 11pm, a group of teenagers and I were playing a game in the lobby and things got a bit heated. Instead of asking us calmly to settle down, a woman screamed at us in a rude, disrespectful way. The rooms were filthy. The closet was in poor shape, the sinks hadn’t been cleaned properly, and old sweets from previous guests were on top of the closet. There was period blood on the blanket, which was disgusting and unacceptable, coming from a woman. The glass cups had bite marks all over them and were dirty in general. With the grime and the staff’s conduct, this hostel isn’t worth staying at. There are plenty of better choices in Weimar. Be smart and pick somewhere else.

We felt welcome and well looked after throughout our stay. The staff were genuinely friendly, kind, and always ready to help. The rooms were comfortable and clean, just what we needed. We were very happy with the service and had a great experience.

The nights were noisy, and people smoked everywhere. I waited 20 minutes at reception for someone to show up. The man at the desk when we checked out was very nice, though, so I’ve updated my service rating. Note that parking isn’t free, there’s paid parking.
