Hanusel Hof

The spa was top notch, and the owner and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. My room had everything, including a large bathtub, a separate shower with a rainfall head, and complimentary toiletries. It was quiet and relaxing. The food was honestly better than what I've had at Michelin-star restaurants. The golf course was covered in snow during my visit, but it made for a really nice walk through the forest and surrounding area. You don't need to leave the hotel for a weekend, it has everything you need.

The hotel is connected to a golf course, but I don't play, so I can't comment on it. For walks nearby, having a car helps, though there are a few pleasant 2-3 hour routes that start at the hotel. Taxis have a flat fare of 25€ if you arrive by train. The free Wi-Fi is so poor it's almost pointless, so bring your own connection if you rely on internet access. The staff throughout were excellent, and the kitchen is well worth a visit for breakfast and dinner. The wine is pricey, as it often is at hotels like this, and spirits seem to be tied to the gold market, so check the price before ordering. The sauna and pools are pleasant, but get crowded towards late afternoon. Go earlier and you should find what you need. It's a very relaxing wellness hotel, and I'll return.

We went for the "back stage" all-you-can-eat package and were very satisfied. The starters, salads, mains, and desserts offered a huge variety. You can watch your main course being prepared and ask for variations or special choices, and they try to accommodate what's possible. The kitchen staff were very good, and reception and service were excellent, friendly, quick, and attentive. Inside, the space felt airy, clean, and spacious, with lots of daylight. The seating was nice and rustic without going too far. The building itself leans a little too heavily into local tradition for my taste. The selected wines were high quality, though expensive at about 9€ for 0.2 l and 24€ for 0.5 l. A less expensive option would be nice for people who'd rather enjoy less.

I had a lunch reservation for five a few days ago and brought my small service dog. At reception, Ms Schütz greeted us with a very rude “the dog cannot come in here!!” instead of saying hello. I checked with the manager and showed proof that my dog is a service dog, but Mr. Alois Rainalter still refused to let us in. This was discrimination and unacceptable. I wouldn't give even one star if there were another option, and we will never go back. We had a wonderful, delicious meal instead at the beautifully decorated restaurant at the Hotel Krone in Stein near Immenstadt, where they welcomed both me and my service dog with open arms.
