Landgasthaus Waldesruh

I hadn’t paid, thankfully, and I was nearby anyway, so I just dropped in. But several booking sites showed rooms available, and when I got there they said the place was full. They don’t keep their online bookings up to date, which could’ve meant a hassle getting my money back if I’d already paid.

The Wi-Fi barely worked and kept dropping in the rooms. The accommodation itself was fine, and it’s on a quiet backstreet.

Quiet spot, clean, but a bit dated. Breakfast was good, and it’s a normal place to stop when you’re on the road.

It’s tucked away in the village, but Google helped us find the restaurant, and there’s plenty of parking across the street. Inside, it has comfortable, attractive guesthouse-style furnishings. The staff were friendly and polite, and we enjoyed the reasonably priced Mother’s Day meal: asparagus, schnitzel, beef broth, ice cream, water and coffee. We paid €50 per person, including non-alcoholic drinks and tip. The entrance and basement restroom aren’t wheelchair accessible, so you may need someone to accompany you. After the meal, there’s a pleasant walk along the woods’ edge that works for walkers and wheelchairs, plus a forest playground where children can burn off energy. Highly recommended.
