Hotel Strohgäu

There were plenty of spaces in the courtyard parking lot during our trip. The hotel itself was cozy, comfortable and clean, and breakfast was decent. Even the children found things they liked, especially the Nutella dispenser. I can't really point to anything in particular to complain about.

The walls are very thin, so you can hear everything, and a good night's sleep is out of the question. On my last morning I had to check out early, at 6:15, with breakfast starting at 6:30. Everything was already served, but they still wouldn't let me eat, even though I'd paid for it. I didn't have time to wait, so I left without breakfast. At check-in on Monday, the process took an hour and a half because the man at reception didn't really speak any language and had to call his boss for every question. My first room hadn't been cleaned properly, and I found hair in the bed. When I asked for another room, they didn't want to give me one, saying the place was full, but then a free room suddenly appeared. Even after I said the bed was dirty, he asked whether I'd touched it because he wanted to give it to the next customer. I had to buy cleaning supplies and clean my new room myself. This place feels more like a motel than a hotel, somewhere truckers might bring casual partners or construction workers might stay cheaply. I'd avoid it.

The room was good for what we paid, with all the basic things we needed, and breakfast was simple but good. The parking spot is the one downside at €7 per night.

If you're after somewhere fancy, you'll need to look elsewhere. This is a low-budget hotel that seems mostly used by truckers and people away for work, judging by the vehicles in the lot. The rooms are small but clean, so no complaints there. Breakfast was good, and the coffee was more than decent. You can also get dinner at the restaurant after work, where the prices are fair and the food is better than you'd expect.
