The view is lovely, and it’s centrally located for taking different excursions. There’s plenty of crockery and cutlery, and using the fireplace for heat is a plus, though you’ll need to bring your own wood and briquettes. Unfortunately, some of the furnishings are broken and dirty, and the apartment is very noisy.

We had a few lovely, sunny days and found plenty to do near the lake, including restaurants and a small shop. It was our first visit to Lake Scharmützel, and we stayed five nights in a very nice house. We were lucky to get a ground-floor room with a terrace and garden, about a three-minute walk from the lake. The house is fairly well kept, but the sofa cushions were a little dirty, and the terrace needs repair or renovation. My children often got splinters in their feet. The furnishings were very basic, and I expected some essentials to be provided. We had to buy salt, coffee filters, baking paper, toilet paper (there were only two rolls for a family of four), and garbage bags (just one small bag was supplied). We arrived in a small car, not a van, and it was difficult to fit everything when we brought our own luggage, bedding, and towels. Those items can be bought there. I think the price is high for just a house, especially once electricity and water are added. These are just my experiences, not a judgment.

It’s really beautiful there, and great for families. We go every year with our grandchildren. There’s plenty to do for children, and anyone can find out what activities are available!

Our group of four spent a week in Apartment 12, a comfortable place for four to six people. The living and dining area opens onto a generous terrace with modern patio furniture and a barbecue. Inside, it’s very spacious, with an open-plan kitchen, and the living room and both bedrooms are stylishly furnished. The apartment is equipped with modern conveniences, including a large flat-screen TV in each of those rooms, fast Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. There’s also a large bathroom with a whirlpool and sauna. Check-in and check-out service was very friendly. The one downside was the front room, which gets extremely noisy when neighbors slam doors or talk loudly in the stairwell. Its two small windows also aren’t enough to ventilate the room in summer.
