Most places were easy to reach on foot from this central spot, including Wernigerode Castle, the town center, and the Brocken Railway. After a very warm welcome, we settled into a lovely apartment that was comfortably furnished and had everything we could need. Parking is right at the apartment. We’ll definitely book with Ferienwohnungen am Klint again on our next trip to Wernigerode. Definitely 5 stars +++

We’ve stayed here three times now, and it’s always a pleasure. The place is clean and tidy, everything is in order, and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking now and then. It’s right in the centre but still quiet and peaceful. I’ve lost my heart in Harz.

The owners, the Günter family, are incredibly nice, and we’d love to return. We spent a week in apartment number 3, which was cozy, fantastic, and had everything we needed in a great central location. Our car stayed parked for six days.

We’d originally planned to spend New Year’s in Wernigerode a few years ago, staying at a hotel right on the market square, but Covid forced us to cancel. This time we chose Haus am Klint because of its excellent reviews and private parking, and we certainly didn’t regret it. The apartment choices are described clearly on the website and can be booked a little over a year ahead. There are 10 apartments and one Haus am Klint, plus 6 apartments on the market square. We picked apartment 2, the largest ground-floor one at 60 square meters. It seems to be the most popular and gets booked fastest. There are even bigger apartments upstairs for up to 6 people, and the holiday home in the courtyard can also sleep several people. For a couple with two children, our apartment was very spacious. One bedroom had a double bed, the other two single beds and an extra television. The parents’ room didn’t have a TV. The mattress felt too soft for my back. It’s a traditional bed rather than a box spring, and the slatted base can be adjusted manually, which was excellent. The living area had comfortable armchairs and a sofa, a table with four chairs, and plenty of storage. There was also a DVD player, radio/stereo system, and television. The kitchen was very well equipped, with what seemed like almost-new appliances and more than enough dishes and cutlery. The only thing possibly missing was a frying pan. Dishwasher detergent for both the dishwasher and handwashing was supplied, along with paper towels. The bathroom was modern and fully equipped too. We got a very warm, friendly welcome. They explained everything clearly, and there was a welcome package with cookies and mulled wine. Parking can be tight when every apartment is occupied. There are seven official spaces, or eight if you use the owners’ carport, and a skilled parker might fit up to ten cars. Some apartments can fit two cars, though one may block the other. Everyone needs to be considerate. You get a permit with your apartment number, and each apartment has a doorbell. We had no real trouble even though ours didn’t work. You can hear it from outside but not indoors, and since you can get to the apartment from outside, you can knock on the window. Wernigerode’s town center is picture-perfect, with plenty of restaurants within 150 meters. The Schlemmercafé on Breite Straße is worth a visit for breakfast, lunch, coffee, and cake, whether you eat in or take it to go. We also highly recommend the Kartoffelhaus and Ratskeller restaurants. We highly recommend the apartment for its amenities and location, and will definitely return during the Easter holidays, when even more attractions will be open.
