We stayed in apartment number 15, and the view was the one genuinely good thing about it. We had booked a 4-star apartment, but on arrival were told we'd apparently only booked a 3-star one, then were "generously" upgraded to 4 stars. That felt very strange. The cleanliness was disappointing. The bed linen smelled unpleasant, and we got the impression it hadn't been changed in weeks. There was dust everywhere, hair in the sink, and various marks and stains on the walls. The toilet was a shock too: extremely small, almost like one for a kindergarten, with a seat even smaller than the toilet itself. It was very uncomfortable, and there was a constant sewage smell throughout the apartment. Save your hard-earned money and don't book this apartment.

After a day trip in the Harz Mountains, it was easy to unwind in this apartment. We had a pleasant stay as a family with two children, with plenty of space, a welcoming atmosphere, and comfortable beds. It was our first visit, but won't be the last. We felt very comfortable here and would gladly return. The location was central, making it easy to explore the old town, and breakfast was perfectly adequate. The staff, including some Polish staff, were warm, attentive, and friendly. You can tell the owners are still involved and care about giving guests a special stay. Our apartment was spacious, modern, and full of light from floor-to-ceiling windows, with a breathtaking view of Wernigerode and the castle. The large rooftop terrace was a real highlight. Those big windows can make the place feel a little exposed, but the view and atmosphere more than made up for it. One thing to know is that some furnishings were missing, such as a full-length mirror, wardrobe, cushions for the patio furniture, and hand soap. We were especially touched by the complimentary upgrade to the Sennhütte design loft after water damage affected our original booking at "Designpension Idyll Nr2 Hotel Garni". It was a generous, very kind gesture. This isn't a typical hotel, it feels like a welcoming guesthouse with personality and style.

The hosts went out of their way to meet every wish I could think of, and even offered a shuttle service. I left very happy and will definitely come back. I'd originally booked the provider's other accommodation, but they upgraded me for free. I had my own loft, state-of-the-art, beautifully furnished, and simply fantastic. No complaints at all.
