Best Western Plus Palatin Kongresshotel

A practical business hotel, especially when your conference is held there. The rooms feel a little dated, but they're fine for a night or two.

The room was quiet and clean, with nice bedding and a modern bathroom. It was a discounted last-minute Friday booking during a long drive, and in midsummer I was glad there was a standing fan since there's no AC. The restaurant happened to be closed that day, which was annoying. Drinks and snacks were reasonably priced, with a lovely local bottled beer, full-bodied like Heineken. Breakfast was better than average, though still typically German: blue-boiled eggs and a buffet that was warm and dry. Some items were gone with 30 minutes of service left, including bacon, while there was plenty of salmon but no horseradish to go with it. A ripe peach ready to eat saved the meal. They could make breakfast great by paying attention to those little things. I'd come back between September and June, but skip breakfast.

The breakfast buffet was included, had lots of choices, and tasted good. We also had a ticket that covered a spa thermal day, so the stay felt worthwhile. The room was spacious, the bed more comfortable than at other hotels, and I slept well. Staff were friendly, though parking is very expensive. I could hear other guests walking around and using the bathroom, which woke me up. I don't stay in hotels often, so maybe that's normal. I'd recommend it if it suits what you're after.

The conference space was well maintained, and its audio and video systems worked properly. The hotel itself was nice, with good-tasting food. The boarding house rooms were roomy, clean and comfortable, and had air conditioning.
